What I grow

Primary land cover

Trees planted from the government's plant a tree program, etc.

A few edible plants

Because I don't spray pesticides, and am too lazy to use fertilizer, most well known crops can't easily be grown.

(Sorry many have common English names but I didn't add them. E.g., banana. Also see Wikipedia:List_of_plants_with_edible_leaves. GNU/Linux Program used to make those files.)

Living in the hills are you self-sufficient?

E.g., Crassocephalum rabens with whole wheat flour fried in soybean oil in an electric pan: only the first item isn't purchased. I only use US$3/month of electricity as I found I don't need a refrigerator.

Water sources?

In the hills every few hundred meters there is a spring. Store it in tanks and pump it to the house tank. No creeks here on the ridge line.

Wooden cabin?

Are you kidding? It would be consumed by termites in short order. So use metal, plastic, etc.

Vegetarian?

In 1977 I lived on The Farm and became a vegan.

Recipes?

Try bananas, water, salad oil, and Hedychium coronarium flowers tossed in a blender to make a creamy drink.

Countryside sounds neat. Drawbacks?

Noise.
