Here I will list problems with another one of Taiwan's names, "ROC", which stands for "Republic of China".
Letter from XX Life Insurance 2003.7:
Dear Mr. Jacobson: As you requested, we changed the address to:
1-6 Qingfu St Dongshi 423 Taiwan OCWe apologize we need to include the "OC"; it is for our internal use and means "out of country".
Bank One uses "TAIWAN, PROVINCE OF CHINA".
I was told "ROC" has also caused packages to go to Romania.
Taiwan English postal addresses
Taiwan even has its own year system! ROC year 93 = 2004 = North Korean "Juche" year 93 too! As a young stamp collector in the USA, I would never imagined that the "84" in Taiwan postmarks meant 1995, not 1984. What will they come up with next? Tongyong Pinyin.
